NFL Pro Day at Old Dominion

It’s NFL Pro Day at Old Dominion University.

Eight Monarchs worked out in front of 13 NFL scouts – hoping to make an impression before the NFL draft.

Norfolk now the new home of PCU Arlington

Norfolk, Va. – Naval Station Norfolk is now the home of a new ship.

The PCU Arlington, a San Antonio Class Amphibious Transport Dock Ship, dropped its anchor today.

The ship honors first responders and the 184 people who died when the Pentagon was attacked on September 11.

First responders who were at the Pentagon that day were also at the Naval Station to greet the ship and her crew when they arrived.

The Arlington is set to be commissioned on April 6, 2013, and it will then be known as the USS Arlington.

ODU sends four wrestlers to national tournament

Norfolk, Va. – The Monarchs send four wrestlers to Des Moines, Iowa to compete for a National Championship.

330 student athletes will wrestle for a national championship this weekend in Des Moines. ODU sends three freshman, and one junior. All are first time qualifiers – including Great Bridge graduate, Billy Curling.

Billy won the championship in the 174 pound weight class.

Spring fun at Nauticus

Norfolk, VA- The most “egg-citing” event is coming to Nauticus.

All ages are welcome to compete in the annual Egg Drop Design Contest.

On March 23, from 10:30am to 2pm.

At Nauticus in Norfolk, located at One Waterside Drive.

Participation is free and there will be prizes for each age group.

Man shot outside of home on West 28th Street in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. — A man was shot outside of his Norfolk home on Monday night at around 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of W. 28th Street according to police.

Calls came in at 8:51 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a man inside of a home suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was then transported to the hospital. There is no word yet on the extent of his injuries and no arrest has been made.

Update: Man charged in MacArthur Center stabbing incident

Update:  Police say they have now charged Leedente Brown of the 3600 Blk. King Street in Portsmouth with malicious wounding after a man was stabbed in MacArthur Center on Monday. 

Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk police are investigating a stabbing at MacArthur Center where a man was stabbed following an argument over a woman.

It happened around 1 p.m. on the second floor near the Solstice Sunglasses store.

They say mall security responded to the incident within seconds.

The suspect allegedly stabbed his friend during an argument over a woman according to Norfolk police.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to be OK.

The suspect was taken into custody and the woman involved is also in custody for questioning only.
